After a week of tranquil domesticity and school, we headed out for a well deserved trip to the beach! En route we were delayed for a while by the annual Vuelta al Lago Arenal, a two day bike race around the Lake. I was exceedingly jealous and can't wait to get my bike down here. Everyone seemed to be in great spirits but we saw one woman who looked like she'd been hit by a car. We stopped to see if she needed help but she was okay and thankful for our offer.
Eventually made it to the lovely Playa Hermosa ( beautiful beach) after passing Playa Bonita (pretty beach) and Playa Buena (good beach). Good to know there are other viable options. It feels really warm here, at least 10 or 15 degrees warmer than our lush Lake Arenal at about 2000 feet. Today we played, dug, boogie boarded, body surfed and snorkeled from the shore. The beautiful beach and warm ocean were complimented by meeting up with another set of Portland friends! We hooked up with Sully's good buddy Nico and his folks Catherine and Bill. Kids played while the boring old adults had some drinks and had a great time talking. Rough life.
Tasty very local fish for dinner and more swimming. Looks like we had good sunscreen success and no significant sunburns. Tomorrow morning we will take a boat ride to nearby Isla Escondido for some more snorkeling.
What a great day! I can see that a good time was had by all. Don't get lost at the Hidden Isle tomorrow!
